The Hacienda (2022)

Atmospheric, frightening, and exquisitely romantic.

Beatriz’s father was killed during the fall of the Mexican government, and her house was destroyed. When dashing Don Rodolfo Solórzano makes a proposal, Beatriz rejects the tales about his first wife’s untimely death and decides to take advantage of the protection that his estate in the countryside offers instead. No matter the cost, she will have her own home once more. However, Hacienda San Isidro is not the haven she anticipated.

Beatriz’s sleep is disturbed when Rodolfo goes back to work in the capital. She moves with the weight of intangible eyes following her. Beatriz’s anxieties are ridiculed by Rodolfo’s sister, Juana, so why does she avoid going home at night? Why does the cook mark the doorway with weird markings and burn copal incense at the border of the kitchen? What actually transpired with the first Doa Solórzano? There are only two things Beatriz is certain of the hacienda is in need of repair. Nobody will be able to help her there.

“A supernatural thriller book set in the aftermath of the Mexican War of Independence centered on a lonely property, a frightening haunting, and the lady drawn into their grips.”

She clings to Padre Andrés, a young priest, as an ally in her desperate search for assistance. Andrés, a unique priest, will need to use his witchcraft abilities to repel the evil force haunting the hacienda and save the woman for whom he has a strong, forbidden affection. But even he might not be sufficient to overcome evil. San Isidro is probably not going to be Beatriz’s saving grace.
