The story takes place in the fictional continent of Westeros and its neighboring continent of Essos. It centers around a dynastic war among a group of families fighting for control of Westeros, and the rising of Daenerys Targaryen, the deposed king’s exiled daughter, to assume the Iron Throne.

A Game of Thrones: Book 1 of A Song of Ice and Fire
