The princess saves herself in this one (2017)

This moving book explores love, loss, grief, healing, empowerment, and inspiration.

Amanda Lovelace manages to show that in literature less can be much, much more. It is not easy to turn consciences and stomachs with just a few words. It is not easy to shrink hearts with simple words and stories.
It is matters of poetry and emotions, everything is subjective, everyone will have their preferences and there will always be someone who prefers convoluted verses or dense paragraphs, but for me, The Princess Saves Herself in this One squeezes the power of simplicity and sincerity to unsuspected extremes.

This book has made me cry and smile. It has made me regret the worst in human nature and at the same time regain faith in the healing power of love and forgiveness.

There are four sections to this collection: the princess, the damsel, the queen, you. The damsel included sorrowful poetry speaking about the terrible events Lovelace went through. The queen included poetry with hints of feminism, about how she made herself stronger and picked herself up – she crowned herself queen. You are directed towards the reader, giving inspiring poetry about making yourself stronger, loving yourself.

I flipped through this poetry collection quite quickly – though I didn’t feel I rushed it at all. A very powerful collection and I cannot wait to pick up ‘The witch doesn’t burn in this one

Simple, but full of passion and feelings. The whole book portrays a life, going through the darkest moments. The complicated relationship with the mother. The loss of the sister. The power to love herself. And in the end, find someone special with whom to share all these problems and blessings. It is a type of prose that shines for its simplicity and minimalism. The details are what make it so beautiful, like arranging the words and creating a shape with them.

The Power of Vulnerability (2012)

In this incredibly life-changing lecture, Dr.Brené Brown helps people to see the beauty that exists in vulnerability. Vulnerability is different from weakness. We often associate vulnerability with feelings we don't want to experience, such as fear, shame and uncertainty. Yet we too often forget that vulnerability is also the source of joy, belonging, creativity, authenticity, and love; and that when we dare to let down our guard, we open ourselves to new experiences that bring purpose and significance to our lives.

The book is filled with a daily quote, 365 of them with Hoda’s comments about what each quote means to her and perhaps what it could mean to her reader as well. There are inspiring quotes, funny quotes, and some extremely profound quotes. I believe the book itself is a love story to her friends, family, her children, and fiancé, as well as an uplifting read to her devoted fans, some of who have been with her as she journeyed through cancer, divorce, messy breakups, finding love and children.

This quarter-life memoir from Hannah Brown is one most will find something to relate to in. If you’ve followed along in the last nearly 3 years now since she graced our television screens, there has been much that has happened and this book will not disappoint in filling in some previously private occurrences in that time, but this book is about more than that.

Braving the Wilderness (2017)

Braving the Wilderness is a revealing book book by Brené Brown. In this book, she says that there is a spiritual crisis of disconnections and needs a new definition of true belonging. True belonging requires us to believe and belong to ourselves so completely that we can find sacred in being a part of things and stand alone when necessary. However, in today’s society people aren’t willing to be themselves and face the consequences. Therefore, many people are unable to find true belonging.
