The Maid (2022)
The Maid by Nita Prose is narrated by Molly Gray, a 25-year-old maid at the Regency Grand Hotel. "Molly, the Maid" is different. She's always been the subject of taunts, jeers, stares, ridicule and, cruelty. The ability to read social cues, intentions, expressions, or even understand words in a non-literal sense is foreign to her. Project Hail Mary (2021)
Andy Weir’s latest science fiction adventure, Project Hail Mary, marks a welcome return to form for fans of The Martian, after his lackluster second novel, Artemis. There’s the same hyper-focus on fine details of technology and science, one of Weir’s hallmarks, along with a series of critical events that our intrepid main character needs to overcome through a combination of scientific knowledge and inventiveness.

The Hunger Games (2008)
Every year, Panem (post-apocalyptic North America) hosts a Hunger Games involving one female and one male representative from each of its twelve districts to fight to the death. All of the Districts of Panem must watch the Games as a form of yearly "entertainment" when in actuality, it's a power play put on by the Capitol (the wealthiest of the districts). The Capitol uses the Games as a way to demonstrate the sheer helplessness of the other Districts and to keep the population cowed and in fear.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (2017)
This book is also fiercely and unapologetically socio-political and we love that. Evelyn’s story is one of being a woman in a man’s world. It is one of being a Cuban woman in a white woman’s world. It is one of being a bisexual woman in an era where attraction to women was demonized by the whole culture. It is one of hiding yourself for ambition, one of trying to decide which one takes precedent, one of aging, and one of never knowing whether your choices were right.
